Governance and Operational Sub-Committees
Total Healthcare Otara is your local Primary healthcare Organisation(PHO).We are team of professional health providers including local GPs, practice nurses, community health workers, health promoters, clinical assistants, primary care educators, project facilitators and administrators.
THO has two key providers, The East Tamaki Healthcare (group of 12 GP practices) who are the medical providers and Otara Health Charitable Trust, who are our community health providers.
Vision
To work in partnership with our communities to improve the health status of all, with particular emphasis on high needs populations including Maori, Pacific, and Asian communities.
To achieve recognition from its stakeholders and the community for the way in which THO’s providers exhibit leadership and innovation in the design and delivery of its health services to high needs patient populations.

Governance and Operational Sub-Committees
The Board have 3 functioning Sub-Committees for which they have delegated operational duties and responsibilities to. The day to day operations of Total Healthcare Otara are managed by the Executive Committee, the clinical governance is overseen by the Health Outcomes Committee and matters related to frameworks for internal processes of Audit and Financial Management are managed by the Audit and Finance Committee.
Total Healthcare Otara utilize committees and groups for advise, management and leadership. These committees/groups include –
- Maori Health Steering Group – led by Mr Willie Ropata
- Pacific Health Steering Group – led by Mrs Tupou Manapouri

The current enrolled patient population is 95,000 due to the addition of two practices post 30th June 2010.
For the period ended 30th June 2010, Total Healthcare Otara had 84,719 enrollees having the following break up:

- THO has a predominantly young and growing population consisting of 50% under 24 years
- Of the total population 31% are below the age of 14 years making child health especially immunisation a major priority area.

- 51 % of the enrolled population are Pacific
- 15 % of the enrolled population are Maori, and
- 34% of the enrolled population are Other Ethnicities

- 57% of the enrolees living a NZDepIndex 5 area
